Splendors of Florence

Florence is the eighth city in Italy for number of inhabitants.
But no other city except Rome, contains so much history and so much art. Therefore, Florence is one of the symbols of the culture of Italy, since always.
Florence is located on the banks of the Arno River, on the edge of a verdant Valley, surrounded by green hills scattered with villas and gardens, as in certain paintings of the Renaissance.
The Arno River divides the city into two unequal parts: the oldest part extends in the plain on the right bank of the River.
There are many famous monuments: the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with the baptistery and the elegant campanile di Giotto, Palazzo della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio, the Loggia dei Lanzi, Galleria degli Uffizi, other beautiful churches of s. Croce, s. Maria Novella and s. Miniato.
But Florence is not only a town-museum, art centre tailored for tourists; It is also a modern city with industries and many other economic activities.
